"World No Tobacco Day" occurs every year on May 31st. The World Health Organization (WHO) and its many partners join together every year to highlight the overwhelming number of health risks associated with tobacco use.
Some parenting tips for preventing your child from smoking include:
- Use clear, direct messages.
- Set a good example; children of parents who smoke are more likely to smoke themselves.
- If you do smoke, QUIT.
- Do not use threats or ultimatums if your child is found smoking. Instead ask why he or she decided to smoke and have an OPEN conversation about it.
