MCL Unveils Full Year of America 250 Programming for 2026

MANALAPAN, N.J. (Dec. 3, 2025) – In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the Monmouth County Library System will host a year-long series of America 250-themed events at branches throughout Monmouth County.

Many of these programs are funded by a grant from the New Jersey State Library’s Rev250 initiative, which highlights New Jersey’s role in U.S. history. The grant, secured by Headquarters Branch Manager Robyn Miller, enables the library to deliver a diverse range of historically significant and engaging events designed to enrich the community’s understanding of the American Revolution.

The series kicks off with “Who Tells Your Story: A Rev250 Hybrid History Book Discussion,” held three times in 2026 with the first session on Jan. 22 at 10:30 a.m. online and at the Headquarters Branch, Manalapan. On Jan. 31 at 2 p.m., Headquarters will host “Revolutionary Pieces: Jigsaw Puzzle Competition,” a 500-piece team race.

In February, the Headquarters and Wall Township branches will offer “Dance Like a Colonial: A Reel Good Time,” a family-friendly event featuring Colonial-era country dances, followed by an adult reel and cotillion session. “Living History through Music,” a performance of liberty songs and ballads, will take place at Headquarters on March 6 and at Eastern Branch, Shrewsbury on April 28.

• “Battle of the Navesink” – Atlantic Highlands Branch
• “Friendly Rivals: Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton at Monmouth” - Allentown Branch
• “Captain Joshua Huddy v. Colonel Tye” – Eastern Branch, Shrewsbury
• “The Role of Black and Indigenous Peoples in the Revolution” – Ocean Township Branch
• “George Washington Is Here!” – Headquarters and Eastern Branch
• “Rebellion in the Crossroads: A Virtual History Lecture” – Virtual Branch
• “The Sand Hill Indians and the Minisink Trail” – Headquarters and Eastern Branch
