Men Caught Fleeing Burglary in Manalapan, Police Say

On Monday, Freehold and Manalapan police chased two men through the woods who were fleeing a home break-in on Fallswood Drive.

Manalapan, NJ - On Monday, May 9, Manalapan and Freehold police chased two men through the woods who were fleeing a home break-in on Fallswood Drive, officers reported.

At approximately 10:22 a.m., a woman, alone in her home, called 911 to report that an unknown white man was forcibly entering her residence through her front door on Fallswood Drive. While en route to the home, responding patrol officers were told by the victim, via the 911 operator, that the suspect and another man had fled the scene in a black SUV and were headed towards Woodward Road.

That info. was provided to surrounding agencies, including the State Police, Freehold Twp. police, Jackson Twp. police, and the Monmouth County Sheriff's department. Freehold Twp. police located the SUV over the Freehold Township line and stopped it on Hendrickson Road.

One man stayed inside the car, while the driver fled on foot and was later apprehended in a wooded area.

Arrested were Evan Mann, 26, of Freehold, and Frank Vanpelt, 23, of Farmingdale. Mann was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, and possession of burglary tools. Vanpelt was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and eluding and resisting arrest.
