NJ History Fair Canceled In Manalapan This Weekend

A forecast of heavy rain, cold and high winds cancelled the 2017 fair, scheduled for Saturday in Manalapan.

MANALAPAN, NJ ― After careful consideration, it has been decided to cancel the 2017 Spirit of the Jerseys State History Fair, which was supposed to be held this Saturday, May 13 at Monmouth Battlefield State Park in Manalapan.

"This is not a decision that was made lightly or even easily and we are deeply saddened to admit defeat to Mother Nature," fair organizers wrote. "However, the impending forecast for this Saturday calls for heavy rains, wind and colder temperatures during the core hours of the fair. While this has always been advertised as a "rain or shine" event, a light rain would not cancel it," organizers said. "However heavy rains, flooding and high wind present a public safety issue. This forecast would not only deter the public from attending but many of the exhibitors as well. Unfortunately, the logistics of scheduling a rain date is not feasible."

Until next year, NJ State History Fair!
