Obituary: Anna Durovich, 96

Anna Durovich, age 96, of Manalapan passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011, at her home with her loving family at her side. Born in South River she has resided in Manalapan for the past 40 years.

Anna was a graduate of Trenton Teachers College with a BA in Education. After her graduation she was employed as a teacher with the Metuchen and Somerville Board of Education and for the Treasury Department and Department of Commerce. Anna then worked as an educator for the Health, Education and Welfare Department in the Bureau of Indian Affairs on the Navajo Reservation in Window Rock, AZ, where she retired 40 years ago.

Anna was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church in South River, the National Association of Federal Retired Employees and was a volunteer for many years at Centre State Medical Center, in Freehold. She is predeceased by her parents Harry & Anna Durovich, her sisters Helen Lee Major, Nina Jaysnovitch, Kathryn Weisner, Mary, Olga and Zenia Durovich, and her brother Nicholas Durovich. Surviving are her brothers Harry Durovich of South River, and Michael Durovich and his wife Betty of Bedford, Va., her sister Vera Dorn of Milltown, her sister in law Violet Durovich of South River and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 9:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Avenue South River followed by a 10am service at Saints Peter & Paul R.O. Church in South River with burial to follow at Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, South River. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 3pm to 7pm.
