Obituary: Margaret "Tinker" Salkowitz, 89

Salkowitz lived most of her life in Englishtown.

Margaret "Tinker" Davies Salkowitz, 89, died in her home on Saturday, January 14 2012. Born in Newtown, PA, she lived most of her life in . She earned her nickname "Tink" from her brother as a child because she was always "tinkering" with things.

She was very creative and artistic, and loved to draw, crochet, decorate, write poems and build dollhouses. She also loved Native American culture, her pets and was an excellent cook. Tink was always spunky and so full of life, she even got a tattoo at the age of 76. Mostly she enjoyed caring for and helping those whom she loved and who loved her. Her memory will always live on with them.

She was married to Albert Salkowitz in 1942, by whom she was predeceased in 2000. She leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law Linda & Ned Forbes of Millville, son and daughter-in-law Jim & Beth Salkowitz of Farmingdale, daughter Neva Pownall of Asbury Park and former son-in-law Philip Pownall.

She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Kathryn Cunningham, Keith Salkowitz, Jessica Pownall, Jackie Gaisie and Stephanie Pownall and one great granddaughter Caitlyn Cunningham. She also leaves behind two sisters, Jean Hay and Jessie Yuhasz, a sister-in-law Doris Davies and brother-in-law Walter Kozacheck. She was predeceased by her brother James Davies and her sister Agnes Kozacheck.

Services will be held 10 am on Friday at Christ Church, 71 Oak Glen Road, Howell.
