Obituary: Rita Charlotte Gurski, 81

Rita Charlotte Gurski, 81, of died on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Bayonne, she was raised in Bayonne and Barberton, Ohio. She raised her children in Bayonne and Cranford, and most recently resided in Manalapan.

She graduated from Bayonne High School in 1948. Once her children were older she went back to college and earned an Associate's Degree from Union College in Cranford, and a Bachelors of Science from Kean College. She was employed by Astrup Corp, City Federal Savings, and Central Jersey Bank and Trust. She loved her home, her bric-a-brac and swimming. She also enjoyed the arts, especially painting and was an excellent cook.

Rita was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Theresa Klick; her husband, Edward P. Gurski Sr.; her daughter, Nancy Lopes and her sisters, Dolly Talbot, Judy Suarez, and Patricia Pirozzi. She is survived by her children, Edward and his wife Linda Gurski of Morganville, Jeanette Gurski of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Beth and her husband Mark McDonough of Pennington, Justin and his wife Kristine Gurski of Middletown; grandchildren, Mary Wojcik and her husband Steve, Edward J. and David Gurski, Carolyn, Kimberly and Kristen McDonough and Isabelle Gurski; great grandchildren, Alina and Chase Wojcik, along with many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
