Perrineville Jewish Center/LEV Academy Holding Open House

Perrineville, NJ -- an unaffiliated Convervative synagogue, Perrineville Jewish Center and LEV Academy, invites those interested in a warm, welcoming, inclusive community and modern, Jewish education program for children to its Open House Bagel Brunch on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 855 Perrineville Road, Perrineville, NJ.

With the High Holy Days falling on Labor Day this year, prospective partners are invited to meet our Rabbis and other partners as well as board members and learn about the community and LEV Academy, it's Jewish Enrichment Program for children in grades K-7.

Perrineville Jewish Center has served the Jewish communities of Middlesex and Monmouth Counties for 111 years and will open its doors and backyard for a Bagel Brunch Open House. The Rabbi and Partnership Committee invites prospective Jewish, interfaith and non-traditional families, singles, and couples to see what makes this historic synagogue feel like home.

Those that chose to become partners with PJC are part of a warm, welcoming and inclusive community. No matter the level of observance there is something for everyone of any age and any background. Partnering with PJC offers one a wealth of opportunities to connect with, grow and learn at one's pace, while being supported by our clergy, staff and fellow congregants. PJC offers a flexible participation structure to create multiple entry points that satisfy the myriad reasons for belonging to a synagogue, as well as multi-access services that allow partners to participate in any way they feel most comfortable - on site or online.

Prospective partners will also have a chance to talk to current congregants, meet their Jewish neighbors, and learn about Perrineville Jewish Center's programs for Jews of all ages. At PJC you are not just a member — you are part of a special family who knows you and your family by name. "By being partners, we are are living the value of 'kol Israel arevim ze la ze' - all of Israel are responsible for one another," says Inbar Robbins, Perrineville Jewish Center's Executive Director and Education Director of LEV Academy. She continues, "a partnership is a two way street. Our goal is to make sure every partner is valued for who they are and that every partner sees the value in being part of such a special community." Long-time partner, Adrienne Fein says, "L’dor V’Dor — the responsibility of passing on spiritual knowledge and cultural traditions from generation to generation was my attraction to becoming a member of PJC. Our egalitarian Shabbat services carries out this theme. It is thrilling to share in our interactive service with multiple generations and then partake in discussions with a giving and caring Jewish community. During my 16 years at PJC, I have enjoyed the warmth, friendships and support of this extended family."

High Holy Day services follow the Conservative ritual, with a considerable amount of repetition of prayers in English and opportunities for congregation involvement, Friday night and Saturday morning worship; LEV Academy Jewish Enrichmemt Program; Bar and Bat Mitzvah training; Year-round programs and events for all ages, a social club, travel club and a social action committee. PJC welcomes families with children at all worship services, but have a special Family services for families with young and school-aged children.

With the High Holy Days starting in early September, students will return to LEV Academy on September 30th. Registration for LEV Academy is now open for children entering Kindergarten through 7th grade. K-2nd grades have classes every other Friday from 4:30-6:00 and partnership with PJC is not required. Older students in grades 3-7 meet once weekly on Thursday afternoons from 4:30-6:30. According to parents, Rachel & Jason Levinson, "our experience at LEV Academy so far has been amazing! Our children get personalized attention, and are always learning in fun and engaging ways. The director, Inbar, is always going above and beyond to bring the students special programs and experiences. She is extremely responsive and supportive, keeps us very well-informed, and always makes our kids feel comfortable and valued."
