Hazlet police officers used Narcan to save an overdose victim last week, authorities said.
On Thursday afternoon, officers responded to a report of an overdose victim in the Kmart Plaza on Route 35, police said on the department’s Facebook page.
“Officers Edward Schmidt and Anthony Forlenza administered Narcan (also known as Naloxone) to the victim, which has been credited with saving the victim’s life,’’ police said on the Facebook post.

Hazlet police began carrying Narcan - a nasal spray that counteracts the effects of opiates -- last summer.
Police in Monmouth and Ocean counties Ocean and Monmouth counties were the first to carry the spray, under a program started by the Prosecutors’ Offices in Monmouth and Ocean counties.
