Police Urge Residents to Stay Off Roads During Snowstorm

Minor accidents have occurred because of snow, police said.

Police officials are urging residents of Manalapan and Englishtown to stay indoors and off the roads during the snowstorm that's pounding the Eastern Seaboard Sunday.

"Only drive if it's absolutely necessary," Cpl. Trevor Martinson of the Englishtown Police Department said. "And if you have to drive, drive slow and at a safe distance from other cars."

Martinson said accidents have occurred because of the bad road conditions and the decreased visibility caused by the snow. There was one report of a multiple vehicle accident on Route 527 by Gordons Corner Road but injuries were minor, Martinson said.
