ENGLISHTOWN, NJ - A man who was stopped by police for running a red light in Englishtown on Dec. 31 turned up wanted in Alabama for first-degree auto theft.

Matthew Clemmenson, of Cullman County, Alabama, was stopped for running a red light at the intersection of Rts. 522 and 527 on New Year's Eve in Englishtown. Patrolman Adam Liotta checked his license, which not only was suspended, but Clemmenson was also found to have a full extradition warrant out of Alabama for first-degree theft of a motor vehicle. He was arrested, charged as being a fugitive of justice and lodged in the Monmouth County jail pending extradition to Alabama.

Coincidentally, last Thursday, Jan. 5, Patrolman Liotta stopped a car in Englishtown because it had illegal window tinting, and found that the driver was wanted by the United States Marshall Service on an active warrant out of Utica, New York office for dangerous drugs. Raul L. Rivera-Aviles, 43, Trenton, was transported to the Monmouth County jail, Lt. Peter Cooke of the Englishtown PD told Patch.
