MANALAPAN, NJ - Here's a reminder about the danger of wildfires and how easy it is to accidentally start one: Last week three teen boys accidentally started a brush fire in Manalapan that spread quite quickly and they were unable to put out, police said.
At 5:00 p.m. last Thursday, police were called to Arbach Lane for a report of a brush fire. The Gordons Corner Fire Department was already there, and said they had found a fire burning through a 10-foot by 10-foot wooded area. Police saw the section of wooded area that had been burned.
It was determined a 20-year-old man, an 18-year-old man and a juvenile male, all residing in Manalapan, had accidentally set the fire. The three young men tried to extinguish the fire on their own, but were unsuccessful and the volunteer firefighters had to put it out.
