Tennent Road Attempted Burglary in Manalapan

Manalapan crime blotter: A woman's wallet was taken from her cart at the NetCost Supermarket and an attempted horse theft on McCaffery Road.

MANALAPAN, NJ - Last Tuesday, Jan. 4 at 1 p.m., Patrolman Edward Hedden responded to a Tennent Road residence for a report of an attempted burglary. The 82-year-old Manalapan resident who lived there reported that an unknown person attempted to force open the front door of the residence between 10:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. that day. No items were reported missing from the residence.

On Tuesday, January 3, a Monroe resident reported that unknown actors cut the halter off a horse on his property on McCaffery Road. The victim believes the actors were attempting to steal the horse.

On Tuesday, January 3, an 85-year-old woman shopping at the NetCost Supermarket said an unidentified man removed her wallet from her purse, which she had left in the shopping cart. The suspect is described as a 55-year-old white male, approximately 5’9’’ tall, weighing approximately 250 lbs, wearing a blue jean jacket, red shirt, sweatpants, and brown shoes. The wallet and its contents were valued at $440.

At 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, patrols responded to a residence on Wellington Court in Manalapan Township for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, there was an active fire in the home, but it was quickly extinguished. There were no injuries. The cause is currently under investigation by the Manalapan PD and the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office.
