When the Civil War erupted in 1861, it was a shock to many Americans – but not to the people of the Kansas-Missouri border. They had been at war since 1854, fighting whether or not Kansas would be a free state or a slave state.
The documentary The Road to Valhalla will conclude the story of the Kansas-Missouri Border War and Kansas’ role in it. The director, Ken Spurgeon, will be here for a question and answer session after the screening.
