Well, here I sit and write again, to be heard and seen by how many, who knows... I try to spread the word, I try to get involved, try to motivate and inspire, but does it help? Does anyone listen? Does anyone care? I equate my 6th grader, my youngest child, with a soldier in this story. There is a reason that there is a boot camp, there is a reason to train the new soldier, the budding war participater, the hero. The theory behind bootcamp is to train the soldier for battle, to train them for the unthinkable acts of violence, danger and what to expect when they get to the front lines of war. To train them to stay alive and survive! Well, I look at the awareness of our young children in a similar fashion. While I am not a veteran...I was a friend, a brother, a son and a grandchild of many soldiers, so I know what happens in the war. Our children are in need of a bootcamp. They are in need of training that will help them deal with the unthinkable acts of violence, and danger of drug addiction, and its seedy players in this battle. If they do not have this bootcamp, they will surely not be prepared for the fight of their lives! You look at your child and see that sweet, innocent, loving baby you brought into this world, and that is absolutely ok and wonderful. But you have to give them the tools necessary for their battle, do not let them go off to the front lines without the knowledge they need to survive. We all need to spread the word and participate in our children's battle from beginning to end. The battle is waging in our towns, in our streets, we have to help the kids in their fight. That is all for now, keep the faith. "Life's AWESOME- keep livin'"
