$273 Million Mega Millions Jackpot Won in New Jersey

Check your pockets: The $273 million Mega Millions jackpot was won in New Jersey on Friday.

For the 11th straight year, there has been at least one March jackpot winner, and for the second year in a row, a winning ticket was sold in New Jersey during the month.

“We are thrilled that the winning ticket was sold in Warren County. I’m happy to congratulate Quick Check #69 of 600 New Brunswick Ave. in Phillipsburg, the retailer that sold this winning ticket,” said New Jersey Lottery Acting Executive Director James A Carey, Jr.

New Jersey also sold one $10,000 winning ticket at Banner Deli and Liquor, 400 Broad Ave., Palisades Park in Bergen County, so players were urged to check their tickets.

The ticket matched all six numbers drawn Friday night – the white balls 29, 33, 39, 60 and 66, plus the gold Mega Ball 21.

“Congratulations, too, to the winner of this multi-million dollar jackpot. We encourage the winner to sign the back of the ticket, make a copy of both sides and put it in a safe place, and contact Lottery Headquarters at 609-599-5875 to arrange to file a claim for this “MEGA” jackpot prize,” the NJ Lottery said.

The jackpot for the lucky winner is $273 million (cash value of $162,596,784). The final jackpot amounts were revised upwards based on actual sales.

The jackpot had been rolling since it was last won on January 1, when a group of 23 New York co-workers won a $437 million prize.

In this jackpot run, there were more than 9.2 million winning tickets at all prize levels, including the March 1 jackpot winner and 21 Match 5 winners of $1 million or more.

The jackpot resets to $40 million ($23.8 million cash) for the next drawing on Tuesday, March 5.
