Former Belmar police officer Edward Kirschenbaum took over as acting borough administrator on Jan. 1, according to The Coast Star.
It was one of the first appointments by incoming Mayor Mark Walsifer, a former member of the borough’s police department himself, according to the report.
Kirschenbaum had been serving as director of public safety at the Neptune City Police Department, according to the report. He had also served as chief of detectives at the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office until retiring from that position in 2005.
