BELMAR, NJ — Mayor Gerald "Jerry" Buccafusco announced Friday he will resign.
Buccafusco said he will resign to focus on his health and family. His term as Belmar mayor will end July 1.
"This was not an easy choice, and it is with a heavy heart that I step away from office," Buccafusco said in his resignation letter he posted to Facebook Friday afternoon. "However, I know this is the right decision for myself and my family at this time."
Buccafusco has been mayor of Belmar since 2022. He is a Democrat.
