Arthur J. Harriman Jr. Of Manasquan Dies At 76

Services will be held on Monday and Tuesday.

Arthur J. Harriman, Jr., 76, of Manasquan, died peacefully Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. with his wife and children by his side.

Born in Washington, DC, he raised his family in Holmdel, before retiring to Manasquan 20 years ago.

Art had a long and successful career at Johnson & Johnson before moving to IFF. He retired in 1997 and enjoyed 19 years at the Jersey shore with his wife and family. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of The Church of St. Denis in Manasquan.

A good day for Art included sitting on Whiting beach, walking along the inlet and spending time with his loving wife and family. He was an athlete who enjoyed kayaking, biking and exercising. Art was a true patriot, who loved his country. He was a wonderful husband and a proud father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Art is survived by his wife Joan of 50 years; son, Joe and his wife Dawn of Brielle; daughters, Joan Shaughnessy and her husband Brian of Manasquan and Lynn Rossman and her husband Eric of Belle Mead; sisters, Patricia Foley of Brick and, Ann Hill and her husband Greg of Mount Juliet, TN; 10 grandchildren, Liam, Dana, Colin, Shawn, Marilyn, Zachary, Thomas, Charles, Joseph and John. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Hattie and his brother James

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2016 at the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street, Manasquan, NJ. A Mass will be held at 10a.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Beach Chapel in Manasquan. Entombment will follow at St. Catharine Cemetery in Wall Township

Art was blessed with the gift of life receiving a lung transplant on Easter, 2015. He was a strong advocate of organ donations.
