Belmar Circle of Friends Luau on Wednesday

Marking the end of its summer dance program for young-adults with special needs, Belmar's Circle of Friends H.Y.D.A.S. organization is scheduled to hold an end-of-summer luau Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Taylor Pavilion, organizers said. 

The party is being sponsored by Mayor Matt Doherty with food donations from J. Vrola Meats and Bimbo Bakery, according to a release. 

Organizers said 160 people are expected to attend.

“Special young adults have much to teach us and their presence has made our community richer,” Doherty said in the release. “Belmar recognizes its responsibility to take care of special young adults and we make every effort to meet their needs. Belmar’s vision is to create a community where all needs are met and all families can thrive as one.”

Belmar’s Tourism Administrator, Mary Brabazon, said, “The success of the summer dances was built upon the partnership between the Cupoli family, Claire Deicke, Belmar Mayor and Council, the ADA committee, and the Borough of Belmar Tourism Commission. We realize the importance of the summer dances and we are committed to continuing them as an annual summer event.”
