Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, through its Justice and Peace Advocacy Committee, will host a two-part public program titled “Deconstructing Christian Nationalism: Building a Healthy Model of Civic Engagement.” The series is a follow-up to the church’s August 2025 program, Understanding Christian Nationalism, and is inspired by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s recent social statement on Faith and Civic Life.

Rooted in the shared faith tradition that all power arises from God and that God’s purpose is shalom—the well-being of all creation—the program invites people of faith and all people of good will to explore the responsibilities of civic engagement as a public good. The series seeks to address concerns about the influence of Christian Nationalism by examining how faithful civic participation supports democracy and the common good.

The first session will be held on Wednesday, April 29, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and will focus on the proliferation of misinformation, disinformation, and falsehoods in the public sphere, the damage these practices cause to democratic institutions, and how individuals can better discern truth from falsehood.

The second session will take place on Thursday, May 7, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and will examine the principle of the Separation of Church and State as articulated in the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. Participants will explore the beliefs of the Founding Fathers, how the boundary between church and state has eroded over time, and why this separation remains essential today.
Both sessions will be held in Fellowship Hall at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 6 Osborn Avenue, Manasquan, NJ, and are open to the public. All community members are invited to attend this timely and relevant discussion.

Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP through the church office at (732) 223-0533, or online at:
