Flash flood watch issued for later today.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies today, but periods of showers are expected for tonight into Friday.
The NWS has issued a flash flood watch through Friday. Some thunderstorms may contain torrential rainfall, which could result in a localized flash flood threat.
High temperatures at the beach will be in the mid-80s with light and variable beach winds, becoming south around five miles per hour.

The surf will be around two feet, with south swells around two feet. The ocean water temperature is 75 degrees.
The rip current risk is low, but strong currents can still occur near piers, jetties and other areas, especially during low tide. Swim only in guarded areas and discuss any possible surf zone hazards with them.

The UV index is a 9, which the NWS considers very high, so don't forget your sunscreen.
Low tide at Belmar was at 8:49 a.m. High tide will roll in at 3:07 p.m., followed by another low tide at 9:48 p.m.
