Coastal Monmouth County Beach Weather For Aug. 13, 2016

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies with highs in the lower 90s. But the heat index today will make it feel like it's 107 degrees. So forget you ever heard the phrase "heat index."

Beach winds will be from the southwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour. The lightning threat is low.

The surf will be three feet, with southeast swells around two feet in the morning, becoming lighter in the afternoon. The water temperature is 75 degrees. Bring a bring a bar of soap and you can take a bath.

The rip current risk is low, but strong currents can still occur near piers, jetties and other areas, especially during low tide. Swim only in guarded waters and talk to the guards about any possible surf zone hazards.
There is no lightning threat today, which means there is little chance of thunderstorms.

Low tide at Belmar rolled in 9:49 a.m. High tide will occur at 4:07 p.m., followed by another low tide at 10:38 p.m.
