Coastal Monmouth County Beach Weather Report For Sept. 23, 2016

Sunny, early fall day is on the way.

The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies today with a high in the lower 80s.

Beach winds will be from the north around 5 miles per hour, before switching over to the southwest in the afternoon.

Waves will be around three feet, with southeast swells of two to three feet. The ocean water temperature is 72 degrees. The rip current risk is low today, but strong currents can still occur near piers, jetties and other areas, especially during low tide. Swim only in guarded areas, if you can find one this late in the season. Discuss any possible surf zone hazards with the guards.

There is no lightning threat today. The UV index is a 6, which the NWS considers high.

Low tide at Belmar was at 7:05 a.m. High tide will roll in at 1:33 p.m., followed by another low tide at 8:10 p.m.
