Coastal Monmouth County Beach Weather Report For Sept. 9, 2016

Hazy, hot and humid today, cooler weather on the way for next week.

The National Weather Service is calling for a return to summer before cooler weather sets in next week.

Today will be partly sunny, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the mid-80s at the shore, with temperatures in the low 90s further inland. Beach winds will be from the west at five to 10 miles per hour.

Waves will be around three feet, with south swells of three to four feet.The ocean water temperature is 73 degrees.

There's a low risk of rip currents today, but strong currents can still occur near piers, jetties and other areas, especially during low tide. Swim only in guarded areas and discuss any possible surf zone hazards with them.

The lightning threat for today is low, which means there is little chance of thunderstorms. The UV index is a 7, which the National Weather Service considers high.

Low tide will roll in at 6:54 a.m. High tide will arrive at 1:37 p.m, followed by another low tide at 8:04 p.m.
