No injuries were reported, and the matter is under investigation, but officials said they suspect it began in the kitchen.
The family-run business started in Newark in the 1960s before moving to Avon-by-the-Sea in 1970. Schneider's is known for its homemade ice cream, strudel and schnitzel, according to News12.
