George L. Sable, Korean War Veteran, Dies At 86

Services for longtime Manasquan resident will be held on Friday and Saturday.

George L. Sable, 86, of Manasquan, passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at the Geraldine Thompson Assisted Living Home in Wall.

George was born on June 12, 1928 in Valley Stream, NY. After proudly serving with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he graduated from Adelphia College and began a career of over 30 years with HNTB as a civil engineer. He was proud of his involvement with the St. Denis Church community since moving to Manasquan in 1971. He was also active as a coach with various youth sports team while his children were participating. He also bowled in the leagues at the Lanes of Sea Girt for over 30 years.

George is predeceased by his older brother, Milton and his son, Daniel. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary. He is also survived by his loving children and their families, George P. and wife Eileen, Helen (McGeoch) and husband Dave, Thomas and wife Patricia (deceased), Sean and wife Dee, Mary (Hunt) and husband Duane, Joan (Berard) and husband Ray and Doris (Burke). There are also 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren surviving him.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 15 at the Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16 at the St. Denis Catholic Church in Manasquan. Following George’s wishes, his remains will be cremated and then interred at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
