Irene M. Farmer Of Manasquan Dies At 72

Services scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Irene Ann Farmer, 72, of Manasquan, died peacefully after a 20-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease, with her loving husband Wayne, by her side, on May 23, 2015 in their home in Manasquan.

Born in Staten Island, New York, she graduated with a bachelor‘s degree in biology from Notre Dame College in 1964, continued to earn her master‘s degree in education from Wagner College in 1966. She taught third grade for eight years in NY, PA, and VA.

Co-founding and managing her husband’s medical practice, Irene and Wayne balanced career and life admirably, built and made a home, where they raised five children and resided for over 20 years. A teacher by trade, Irene was a natural artist, a gifted conversationalist, a wonderful wife, and an extraordinary mother and grandmother who always put family first and inspired all of us to do great things with the talents we were given.

Preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Rita Boggs, Irene is survived by her devoted husband Wayne, her loving children, Wayne and Jacy Farmer, Sandy Ferrara, Caroline Bitzer, Thomas and Jill Farmer, Gregory and Kelly Farmer; her eight grandchildren, Lindsey, Alicia, William, Alexander, Devin, Suzanne, Eleanor and Molly; sister Rita Boggs, and wonderful caretakers: Irena Glinski and Patsy Steele.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on May 26 at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. . A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27 at St. Denis Church, 90 Union Avenue, Manasquan. Interment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery 900 Holmdel Rd, Holmdel, NJ 07733.
