James J. White Of Brielle Dies At 84
Services for former Wall Township Committeeman, superintendent of public works set for Sunday and Monday.

James J. White, 84, of Brielle passed away on July 15, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was a devoted and loyal man to his family and friends. A 1948 graduate of Manasquan High School, Jim was a member of the varsity basketball team. After graduating, he started his own masonry business, James J. White and Sons.

A licensed water operator, he became the superintendent of the Wall Township Public Works for 23 years, retiring in 1998. During an active life, Jim served on the Wall Township Committee from 1972-1974 and as mayor in 1974; the Wall Township Planning Board, the Wall Township Board of Education as president, and earned the Wall Township Republican Club Citizen of the Year in 1985. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed splitting time between his homes in Brielle and Naples, FL.
Jim had a love for all sports and outdoor work. He always loved watching his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild playing sports. Jim drove a stock car at Wall Stadium back in the 1950’s. South Wall Little League rewarded him with honors for over 30 years of volunteer umpiring. He was a member of the chain gang for Wall HS Football during the state championship runs of the 1980’s. His love for harness racing led to him owning standardbred race horses at Freehold Raceway from 1993-2007.
Mr. White is predeceased by his parents, Benjamin White, and Lucille White, his brother Benjamin White, his sister Kathryn Rupright, and his first wife, Carol Mueller White. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Sally Van Wickle White, his sister Hope Heller, Seminole FL, his children Barbara and Paul MacLaughlin, Naples, FL, James and Judith White, Wall Twp. NJ, Thomas and Nancy White, Brielle NJ, Bruce and Donna Lee White, Allenwood, NJ, Tracy and Paul Cantin, Rancho Santa Margarita CA, William White and his companion Erin Hennelly, Jackson NJ, 14 grandchildren, Tricia, Holly, Karen, Lauren, Thomas, Christopher, Heather, Kayla, Casey, Olivia, Betsy, Brian, Haley, and Kyle, and 1 great grandchild, Gavin.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday July 19 at the Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. on Monday July 20 at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6 Osborn Ave., Manasquan. Burial will be private at Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan.
