Juvenile Charged With Stealing Package In Belmar

A juvenile was charged with stealing a package in Belmar this past week, police said.

The incident happened on July 11 at 6:46 p.m. when the Belmar Police Department received a call about a group of males who appeared to have stolen a package off of a porch in the area of 12th Avenue and D Street, police said.

Belmar Police were unable to locate the accused subjects at the time of the call but were able to retrieve the stolen package.

The package was recovered and returned to its owner. An investigation followed and the victim was able to supply Belmar Police Department with video surveillance of the event, police said.

A juvenile was seen on video taking the package and was able to be identified, police said.

The accused was found on July 12th on Ocean Avenue and was placed into police custody. The accused was identified as a juvenile that was charged with theft. The juvenile was processed and released to a proper guardian.
