A local resident will get $325,000 after he was injured when he dove head first into a piling in Manasquan, officials say.

MANASQUAN – A Point Pleasant man will get $325,000 after he was injured when he dove head first into a piling in Manasquan, according to borough officials.
Doug Perkins of Point Pleasant was awarded for lost wages after diving head first into the piling that he says wasn't properly marked, according to borough officials.
Mayor Ed Donovan confirmed the judge's decision to Patch but said he disagrees with it, saying the town hoped to get the amount lowered. He did express that he was sorry that the incident happened and the man was injured.

The man claims he dove head first into a wooden piling on Aug. 9, 2015 at Whiting Beach and claimed that the borough did not properly mark the area with flags, borough officials said.
Perkins wanted $1.2 million from Manasquan and an arbitrator suggested a $600,000 settlement. The jury determined Perkins did not suffer permanent injuries but awarded him $325,000 for lost wages, according to borough officials.
