Louis Prima Jr. Performing at San Gennaro Feast

Louis Prima Jr., son of the late "King of the Swing" Louis Prima, is scheduled to take the stage 8 p.m. Saturday at Belmar's inaugural , on Main Street between 10th and 12th Avenues, organizers said. 

Prima Jr. and his backing band, The Witnesses, will "bring his famous father's music to life with an energetic performance and the unique, first-hand perspective of being the son of a music legend," according to a release from organizers.

Belmar-native Sarah Speigel is slated to make a special appearance with the band. 

The feast is scheduled to begin 9 a.m. Saturday with a mass at St. Rose Church, Seventh Avenue in Belmar. 

At 10 a.m., immediately following the mass, the procession of the San Gennaro statue will take place on Main Street.

Presented by Nicchio Ristorante, the feast, which originated in Little Italy in 1926 by newly arrived immigrants, will fill the streets of downtown Belmar Sept. 8 and 9 with Italian food, wine, music and culture, organizers have said.

The feast gets its name from the patron saint of Naples, where the festival's originators came from, according to Dan Di Cesare, owner of  and creator of the Belmar festival.
