Manasquan High School Is Among NJ Monthly's Best

It's not just the specialized schools that are topping the lists of best high schools in New Jersey nowadays. NJ Monthly now has its own list, and local schools made the list (see list below).

NJ Monthly has ranked New Jersey's 305 best high schools for 2018-19. The rankings were released on Friday, and the results were published by Patch with permission.

This time, Jersey Shore schools – which are often left off these lists – were ranked highly, such as Point Pleasant Beach.

Point Pleasant Beach was ranked 52nd on the list, moving up from number 125. Manasquan was ranked 92nd, rising from 113.

NJ Monthly also published information that shows: grade 12 enrollment; student-faculty ratio; number of AP subjects offered; percentages of 11th and 12th grade students taking AP courses; percentages of students scoring high on the SAT; and the graduation rates. The figures also include the percentages of students enrolled in college 16 months after high school.

To arrive at the rankings, NJ Monthly looked at the state Department of Education’s most recent New Jersey School Performance Reports. Only public high schools were included in the rankings. (You can read more about the methodology here.)

Topping the list was McNair in Jersey City, a magnet school. After that, you'll see a mix of schools that haven't always appeared at the top of these lists (Glen Rock, Ramapo, Haddonfield and West Morris Central).
