Polar Bear Plunge in Manasquan to Benefit LADACIN Network
Wanamassa, NJ – Supporters of LADACIN Network, a local nonprofit, will make a big splash to enhance the lives of infants, children and adults with disabilities at the Eighth Annual Polar Bear Plunge at Main Beach in Manasquan on Saturday, January 16, 2016. The event will support LADACIN’s educational, therapeutic, social, residential and support services for over 3,500 infants, children and adults with complex physical and developmental disabilities or delays living in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
Mary Ann and Bob Keller are the Event Sponsors. All proceeds from the event support the
J. Michael Hartnett Memorial Fund to benefit LADACIN Network.
Joseph J. Russell, Jr., of Manasquan, Partner and Chair of the Family Law Department at Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer P. A., Eatontown and Woodbridge, volunteers to coordinate the event. Mr. Russell’s involvement is inspired by the love and admiration he has for his cousin Elizabeth “Liz” Hartnett who benefits from the Agency’s services. Liz’s father, J. Michael Hartnett, was a long-time Agency Board member and advocate for people with disabilities.
The owners of Leggett’s Sand Bar & Restaurant, host of the event for seven years, are committed to enhancing the lives of the people served by LADACIN Network and will host the event once again this year.
On-site registration will begin at Leggett’s at 10:30 am on January 16th. At 12:30 pm, participants will be led to the beach by a US Marine Corps Color Guard and the pipers and drummers of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh of Belmar to take the plunge. Leggett’s will provide a buffet lunch for all registered plungers. The buffet will be available to spectators for a contribution of $20. Other post-plunge festivities, including a costume contest and a 50/50 raffle, will also be held at Leggett’s. 95.9 WRAT will broadcast from the event.
