Mark P. Monahan, 35, of Manasquan passed away on Friday June 26, 2015.
He was born and raised in Wall Township. Mark was a graduate of Wall High School and had attended Ocean County College and Brookdale Community College. Mark was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, last stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Upon his Honorable Discharge from the Marines, he worked as a carpenter who excelled at his craft. Mark was a very meticulous craftsman and took pride in his woodworking and custom furniture.
He was the owner of Phoenix Custom Woodworking and had also worked for Freda Builders, Lowes and Gibbs Construction.

Mark loved his music and enjoyed singing, especially “Simple Man.” He loved his Mickey shirt and the times he spent with others at Disney World. His love for the outdoors included fishing trips on the “Garda” and attracting his prey with the lure of “Here flukey, flukey, flukey.”
He was especially proud of his Irish heritage and being a member of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh of the Jersey Shore, where he served as Parade Adjutant. He fulfilled a dream by completing the N.Y.C. Marathon in 2011 and raising funds on behalf of the USO. Mark leaves behind a large and loving family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that he dearly loved along with his two cats, Cyrious and Leo. Mark will be mostly missed by his best friend and true companion, his wife Colleen.
Mark was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Jack Ringwood and his paternal grandparents William and Sophie Monahan. Mark is survived by his loving wife Colleen (nee Laughery) Monahan of Manasquan, his parents Joseph and Patricia Monahan of Neptune, maternal grandmother Clare Ringwood of Howell, his mother-in-law and her spouse Doreen and Peter Pienciak of Manasquan, his father-in-law and his spouse Gary and Patricia Laughery of Lebanon, NJ and his wife’s grandparents Robert and Kathleen Murphy of Manasquan. Mark is also survived by his brothers and their spouses Michael and Jill Monahan of Point Pleasant, Paul and Tricia Monahan of Neptune and Blake and Jamie Monahan of Wall; three nephews Gavin, Jack, and Michael and a niece, Lauren. Further survivors of Mark are his brother-in-law and family, Michael Laughery and spouse Denise Delia and their children, Kayleigh and Madison Laughery of Toms River.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 2 at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on July 3 at St. Mark’s Church 215 Crescent Parkway Sea Girt, NJ.
