Doherty called it a "huge" opportunity for him to help revitalize Atlantic City. For that reason, he said, the mayor won't have enough time to dedicate himself to his duties as mayor. "It would not be fair to the residents to not have a mayor full-time," Doherty said during the March 20 council meeting (see below).
