Neptune Man Killed While Driving E-Scooter/Moped On Rt. 35

He was driving a 2022 Buddy Kick 125 electric scooter. He was hit while trying to make a left turn onto Rt. 35.

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Neptune Township man was killed Monday when the e-scooter/moped he was driving collided with a car on Rt. 35, said the Monmouth County Prosecutor.

The prosecutor did not release the name of the Neptune man, only saying that he was 47 years old.

He was hit by a car at 5:50 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Rt. 35 and Belmar Boulevard.

Police say a woman was driving a 2024 Kia Seltos south in the right lane of Rt. 35 when she hit the man as he was driving a 2022 Buddy Kick 125 electric scooter, pictured here. The Neptune man was hit as he was attempting to turn left onto Rt. 35.

He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:50 p.m.

The driver remained on scene.

An investigation involving members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART) and Wall Township Police remains active and ongoing.
