New Police Initiative In Belmar

A new community policing initiative will help the Belmar Police Department provide better service to Lake Como and the surrounding area, Mayor Kevin Higgins told The Coast Star.

The mayor discussed the initiative during his fourth Coffee With the Mayor session at borough hall, according to the publication.

Belmar police began covering Lake Como in 2016 after the borough disbanded its own police department in a cost-cutting move, according to the publication.
