No Tax Increase In Belmar For Fifth Straight Year

Municipal purposes tax rate will drop in 2015 budget

Belmar officials have managed to hold the line on any municipal tax increase for the fifth year in a row, according to the app.com.

The municipal purposes tax rate will drop from 68 cents for each 100 of assessed valuation to 65.1 cents. The amount to be raised by taxation will stay the same at $7.2 million.

“We’re constantly asking our department of public works and our police department to do more with less and they step up to the challenge every time,” Mayor Matthew Doherty said.
