Route 35 Bridge Project In Manasquan, Brielle Area Delayed
Work on the Route 35 bridge has been delayed until later in the week, according to officials.

BRIELLE - Work on the Route 35 bridge has been delayed until later in the week, according to officials. The work has been delayed until Friday.
Point Pleasant Beach and Brielle requested construction be pushed back a week so that four travel lanes could remain open for the 42nd Annual Festival of the Sea, Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Stephen Reid told Patch.
The bridge work was originally supposed to resume last week, but Reid said both towns were able to explain to the state Department of Transportation that they needed four lanes open for the popular festival.

The work has caused lane closures, all part of a project to rehabilitate the Route 35 bridge starting in Point Pleasant Beach and spanning over Ashley Avenue in Brielle.
Work has included the installation of barrier curb on the southbound shoulder, construction of a temporary pedestrian detour and installation of protective shielding, DOT officials say.

The $6.3 million dollar federally-funded project is supposed to replace the deck, parapets, sidewalk and other improvements to the superstructure, substructure, lighting, and approaches to the bridge.
The project was designed in stages to minimize impacts to traffic.
