Voluntary Evacuation Issued In Manasquan Ahead Of Nor'easter
The town asked residents in the lowest lying parts of Manasquan to evacuate, particularly if they are elderly or have special needs.
MANASQUAN, NJ — The town of Manasquan just issued a voluntary evacuation on midday Friday, as a powerful nor'easter barrels down on the Jersey coast.
The evacuation, which is voluntary and not mandatory at this time, is for the lowest lying parts of Manasquan.
"A voluntary evacuation for Tier 1 is recommended for residents in non-elevated structures located in low-lying flood-prone areas, particularly the elderly and special-needs persons," said the town.

Manaquan said it is particularly concerned about flooding during the high tides. High tides will be at 7:58 p.m. Friday, 8:20 a.m. Saturday, 8:36 p.m. Saturday and 8:56 a.m. Sunday.
"This is a dynamic storm and flood levels may exceed the levels listed above and may extend well into Sunday," said the borough of Manasquan.

Other towns up and down the Jersey Shore are urging residents to be prepared. The storm is expected to bring winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph, along with coastal flooding.
There could be power outages, warned the town of Point Pleasant Beach.
