Voter Guide For 2026 Belmar Primary Election

BELMAR, NJ — There will be a primary election next Tuesday, June 2 but in Belmar, it is not a competitive primary.

Voters will be asked to choose one from the party they are registered with:

For Belmar town Council:

• Johanna Roper-Robinson is the Democrat running for a seat on the Council. Roper-Robinson ran for Belmar town council in 2024, without success. She's currently on the library board and the Belmar Public Housing Authority Board.

• Longtime resident Suzanne Anan is the Republican running for town Council.

Longtime Belmar Mayor Gerald "Jerry" Buccafusco, a Democrat, said earlier this year he will not run for re-election. But just last week, he suddenly announced he will resign, effective July 1, citing health reasons.
