"The Betrayal of Sarah Stern" airs May 17th from 9 to 11 p.m. at 8 p.m.

The report comes three months after a jury found the accused killer in the Sarah Stern murder trial guilty, convicting the main suspect in the Monmouth County case who had already confessed on video to strangling and throwing the 19-year-old off a Belmar bridge.

Liam McAtasney, 21, of Neptune City was found guilty on all counts of murder, robbery, desecration of human remains, conspiracy to desecrate human remains and hindering apprehension, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office.

NBC says the discovery of the 19-year-old’s car abandoned on a bridge in Belmar "turns into a missing person case that evolves into a months-long homicide investigation."

"As the case tears apart a Jersey Shore town, police discover a plot involving money, close friends and a fatal betrayal. Keith Morrison reports on the investigation and the extraordinary undercover video that helped solve the crimes."
