$1 Million Worth Of Heroin Seized; Manchester Man Arrested: Police

Breaking: The arrest is the result of a month-long investigation, state police said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester Township man is facing drug charges after more than $1 million worth of heroin was seized from his home after a month-long investigation, New Jersey State Police announced Wednesday.

Artemio Gayton, 43, of Manchester, was arrested March 1 during a motor vehicle stop, state police said in a news release.

Investigators from the State Police Trafficking South Unit, with assistance from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and Manchester Township Police Department, discovered through their investigation that Gayton was distributing heroin in Manchester, the news release said.

Detectives, along with members of the New Jersey State Police Crime Suppression Central Unit, located and arrested Gayton, and further investigation led to Gayton’s home, where they seized 10 kilograms of heroin, police said.

Gayton was charged with possession of heroin and possession of heroin with intent to distribute and released pending a court appearance, state police said.

This case is being prosecuted by the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice, the news release said.
