2 Arrested Following DWI Stop In Lakehurst: Police

Paul Langone, 63, of Toms River, was charged with DWI; his passenger, Mark Cremeans., 50, of Bayville, had arrest warrants, police said.

LAKEHURST, NJ — A Toms River man was charged with driving while intoxicated and a Bayville man arrested on an outstanding warrant after police saw the pickup truck they were in failing to stay in its lane early Sunday morning, Lakehurst police said.

Paul Langone, 63, of Toms River was charged with driving while intoxicated and Mark A. Cremeans, 50, of Bayville was charged with hindering apprehension following the motor vehicle stop about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Lakehurst Police Officer Robert Schroeck said.

Schroeck and Detective Michael Proto of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office were working a grant-funded drunk driving enforcement detail when Schroeck saw a 2010 Ford F-150 pickup fail to maintain its lane as it left the Lakehurst Circle and headed east on Route 37.

Schroeck said he also saw the passenger in the pickup flick ash from a cigarette out the window of the pickup, landing on the road, and he began to follow the pickup, which left its travel lane twice more, he said.

Schroeck pulled the pickup over and had Langone perform field sobriety tests, and determined he was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him, he said.

Cremeans, meanwhile, gave Schroeck a false name and date of birth, he said, and the officer found Cremeans had two active warrants from Toms River Municipal Court, Schroeck said.

Langone was issued three motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane, and released, Schroeck said.

Cremeans was charged with hindering apprehension and issued a motor vehicle summons for littering from a motor vehicle, and released to the Toms River Police Department for the active warrants, Schroeck said.
