2 Hospitalized After Car Hits Guardrail, Tree In Manchester

Manchester police said the car ended up with its back end on the guardrail.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Two people were injured Sunday when a car ran off Route 547 and hit a guard rail and a tree, Manchester police said Monday.

The driver, Yanna Emilcar, 19, and her passenger, Safiany Emilcar, 26, were both taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment and evaluation of non-life threatening injuries, Lt. James Komsa said.

The crash was reported at 2:38 p.m. Sunday, Komsa said.

The investigation showed a 2007 Toyota Camry had been traveling south on Route 547, also known as South Hope Chapel Road, when it ran off the road and hit two two traffic sign supports, a large pine tree, and a guard rail before coming to a stop with the rear of the car on the guard rail.

The road was closed for several hours during the investigation.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing, however, driver error appears to be a contributing factor. Patrolman Jesse Hoydis of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit is investigating.

Assisting at the scene were members of the Ridgeway and Manchester Volunteer Fire Departments, Manchester Fire Department, Manchester Emergency Medical Services, Robert Wood Johnson paramedics, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, Lakehurst Borough Police Department, the Ocean County Road Department, and Accurate Towing.
