MANCHESTER, NJ — Two people were injured Saturday when a pickup truck rear-ended a car on Route 37, Manchester police said.

Jayna Deshay, 30, of Browns Mills, and Jaimie Hom, 38, of Toms River, both were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune following the crash that happened about 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Manchester Capt. Vincent Manco said.

Deshay was driving a black 2018 Chevrolet Colorado west on Route 37 when the Chevrolet hit the rear of a silver 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis, which was stopped for a red traffic signal at Colonial Drive, Manco said.

The intersection was partially closed causing traffic delays while officers investigated. The investigation is continuing, but inattentive driving appears to be the primary contributing factor, Manco said.

The Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department, and Manchester Volunteer Fire Department, as well as, Manchester Township Division of Emergency Service EMTs, Jackson Township EMTs, and Robert Wood Johnson paramedics responded.

Patrolman Keith Douglas of the department’s Traffic Safety section is investigating.
