2 Hurt In Car-Dump Truck Crash In Manchester
Police said a Kia Soul making a U-turn pulled the path of the dump truck.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Two people were injured Thursday afternoon when a Kia Soul trying to make a U-turn pulled into the path of a dump truck and got hit, Manchester police said.
William Goldenbaum, 90, the driver of the 2020 Kia Soul, and Louise Tully, 92, both of Manchester, were taken to hospitals for treatment following the crash on Lacey Road, which happened shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday, Manchester Capt. Vincent Manco said.
Tully was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, with injuries to her lower extremities, Manco said. She was listed in critical but stable condition, he said.

Goldenbaum was treated at Community Medical Center for injuries that were not life-threatening, Manco said.
The crash investigation showed Goldenbaum had backed into a driveway along the westbound lane of Lacey Road to make a U-turn, and as he pulled out of the driveway to make a left turn, pulled into the path of the 2007 Peterbilt dump truck, which was westbound on Lacey Road, he said. The front driver's side of the Kia hit the front passenger side of the dump truck, Manco said.

Brendon Poff, 27, the dump truck driver, was not injured and declined medical treatment, he said.
Assisting at the scene were EMTs from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, as well as paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
The investigation is continuing, Manco said, but failure to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic appears to be the primary contributing factor, he said.
Patrolman Conner Yatauro and Patrolman Michael O’Hara are investigating.
