MANCHESTER, NJ — Two people were injured in an afternoon crash on Route 70 on Christmas, Manchester police said.

Zachary Wilson, 23, of Marlton, and Troy Weal, 47, of Browns Mills, both were injured in the crash that happened about 1:50 p.m. Monday, police said.

Wilson was driving a gray 2011 Subaru Outback west on Route 70 when he tried to make a U-turn and drive east on Route 70, police said.

As the Subaru tried to make the U-turn, Weal, who was driving a red 2009 Pontiac G8, tried to avoid a crash but couldn't avoid the Subaru, police said. Instead it hit the Subaru on the front driver's side of the vehicle, police said.

Wilson and Weal both were taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. They were listed as stable as of Monday evening, police said.
