55th Gospel Chorus Tribute To Martin Luther King Jr. Set In Manchester
The district's Gospel choir is set to honor the civil rights leader at its 55th annual tribute event.

MANCHESTER, NJ — The Manchester Township School District Gospel Choir is set to honor civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with its 55th Annual Gospel Chorus Tribute.
The event is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12 in the auditorium at Manchester Township High School, 1 Hawks Way. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12 and for seniors. Children under 5 years old get in free.
The tribute is held annually on the Friday closest to the Jan. 15 birthdate of King. The tribute has been held since the first January after King was assassinated April 4, 1968, Manchester schools officials have said.

"Praise music is performed in the Gospel tradition consistent with Dr. King's faith and message of love, peace, and unity," the district said in announcing the 55th annual tribute. "We share in Dr. King's mission to create an empowering, positive, loving, and faith-filled message that engenders peace and love among all faces and races in the Manchester community."
